The Director of Syrian Airlines, Sameh Arabi, confirmed that procedures have begun to request the necessary approvals to operate at Mitiga International Airport.

Arabi emphasized that the company is ready to implement its operational plan.

Air travel between Damascus and Tripoli airports had been suspended for nearly 12 years due to security concerns in both countries and the international isolation imposed on the Bashar Al-Assad regime.

On May 15, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani announced the opening of his country’s embassy and consulate in Libya, stating that “this step aims to provide services to members of the Syrian community and to strengthen fraternal relations.”
