Acting Foreign Minister of the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, held a meeting on Tuesday with the heads of accredited foreign diplomatic missions in Libya to discuss the latest developments in the capital, Tripoli.

The meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli, where Al-Baour provided ambassadors with a comprehensive briefing on the recent security and political situation in the capital.

According to a statement by the Ministry, Al-Baour reaffirmed the Government of National Unity’s commitment to supporting the path of stability and strengthening state institutions as part of efforts to uphold national sovereignty.

He emphasized that what has been achieved on the ground marks a pivotal step in reinforcing the rule of law and confirming that no authority stands above that of the state and its legitimate institutions.

Tripoli witnessed tensions on Monday, when the Ministry of Defense launched a military operation in the capital, later declaring the mission successfully completed.

In response to the unrest, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah issued a series of decisions aimed at consolidating control over the capital. These included the dissolution of the Judicial Police Authority, the dismissal of Internal Security Chief Lotfi Al-Harari, the disbanding of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency, in addition to several other measures.
