Presidential Council (PC) Vice President Abdullah Al-Lafi held talks on Sunday with Italian Ambassador to Libya Gianluca Alberini to discuss the latest political developments in the country, along with several regional issues.
Al-Lafi reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and engaging constructively with the outcomes of its advisory committee. He stressed that creating the necessary conditions for holding elections remains a top national priority and an essential path toward lasting peace and sustainable stability in Libya.
For his part, Ambassador Alberini reiterated Italy’s support for the PC’s efforts to maintain calm and extend security through the military committee established under Resolution No. 2.
He also praised the Council’s commitment to managing the current phase with "wisdom and responsibility," in a manner that safeguards the political process.
